Hilltop mine and eventually Hilltop the town
was located in the Chiricahua moutains. Hilltop's post office was established
January 26, 1920 and discontinued in the 1940's. Originally discovered in the
early 1880's, the
Hilltop mine didn't support a town until the early 1900's. The The residents and
town of Hilltop bought an automobile in 1913, taking great care of their
investment. In 1917, they built a tunnel through
Shaw Peak and erected a new town site. Gradually mining diminished and the town has become
a lonely ghost town.
Small summer settlement on Chiricahua range above Paradise. Post office established
June 26, 1920.
